Day: Sunday, Christmas Eve 24th December 2023

The days merge into one. It is unfair to try to encapsulate the activity on a daily basis, as day runs into night, into day, and the work continues apace.

Today was more or less a rest day. We went off in 3 vehicles to 2 different shops to buy vittles for Christmas day, and for the week or so we intend to be at the Bruny shack immediately following. Up at 0630hrs, we spread out at 0700hrs [opening time] to get necessaries and a few extravagances.

A warm overcast day, Alex, Justin and your correspondent chose to work only until noon, and then sniff the breeze from the middle of the Derwent from INCA. Lawns mowed, watered, more items stored in the top of the shed, the Mr Hanky the Christmas Poo found in the decorations box in top of the shed, Camille and Harper decorated the tree. Sounds idyllic?

I found a Leonie doll in the roof space: a black dolly, with bright brown eyes (which open and close), and the normal features of an African American from down south. She is a beauty, still dressed in a little blue woolen knitted dress, with gold flecks. I've seated her hear on my correspondent's table.

INCA took us to Richardsons Beach, but the wind died down, and we were unable to get back immediately under sail. Engine roared into life, and propelled us home not long ago (5pm ish).

So what is  Christmas Eve? As they say in rugbaleeg, "it is what it is", and we at 8 Nixon will stand ready for the descent of the Dot and Mont, and Dot's sister Jenny, with her Gary (from White Beach) to enjoy company, food and wine, the sunshine, and particularly, the enjoyment of a child. No, not Alex - Harper.

Josh called whilst we were endeavouring to dock INCA at the marina. I sense he knew, and kept on ringing whilst we tried to ignore the noise, and get the yacht into safety cove. No doubt he and the large mob at Matthew and Mel Jones's home will be relaxing and stretching out for a lovely day around the pool. Let's hope the rain up there stays up in the sky.

I mention Josh was keen to hear of disruption here. Well, he can be quietly confident that all is simply hunky dory - we are all working too hard to have time to argue about minor things which arise when trying to fit two homes worth of people and materials into one house. Confidence my man, confidence!

Rosie reports from Vancouver that she is home from an operation releasing scar tissue in her stomach area, and is very pleased with progress.  We wish her speedy recovery and back on the horse, boat, aeroplane, motorbike etc. They are a day behind us over there, and the winter is not so cruel as it can be 0 degrees now and overnight, rising to 8 degrees during the day. No snow but.

All the best for Christmas eve to you elven kings you.
